5 Affirmations Every Black Woman Needs + How to Make Them Work for You

Hey Queen,

I know what it's like to hear, "life and death is in the tongue" and want to embody that power, but let’s be real—as Black women, we don’t always get spoken about in a way that lifts us up, and sometimes that includes how we speak to ourselves. I love affirmations, but I haven't always followed through on saying them or journaling them regularly because, honestly, I never learned how.

If you're in the same boat, I want to share 5 powerful affirmations I've created to help us, as Black women, reclaim our worth and power. You’ll find them in the images below.

Plus, I’ve put together a simple 5-step process for writing and saying affirmations for anyone who's not sure where to start:

  1. Keep it Positive: Focus on what you want to feel or achieve. Replace "I don’t want to be afraid" with "I am courageous."
  2. Make it Personal: Start with "I" to speak directly to your own spirit.
  3. Use the Present Tense: State your affirmation as if it’s already true. "I am worthy of love."
  4. Be Specific: Focus on an area of your life that needs lifting. "I am worthy of opportunities that honor my value."
  5. Repeat Consistently: Say it aloud or write it down daily. Consistency is key to shifting your mindset.

These affirmations are here to remind you—you are powerful, worthy, and deserving of all the good things this world has to offer.

Let's uplift ourselves and each other.

With love and power,

Tashia
